Protesters wreak havoc in the US

On Monday, April 15, hundreds of anti-Israeli demonstrators descended upon Lower Manhattan. They caused chaos on the Brooklyn Bridge, causing traffic on the side facing Manhattan to stop. Officers in riot gear were observed attempting to calm things down. Since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, this is the most recent demonstration to take place in the Big Apple. "Many individuals have already crossed over," a demonstrator on the bridge informed the New York Post. "They began making arrests here."

As of right today, only one arrest has been formally reported. However, at the demonstration site, over twenty more people were observed being handcuffed. Several demonstrators left when they spotted police approaching. On Monday night, at around 7:30 p.m., smoke was seen outside One Police Plaza. A number of demonstrators were yelling pro-Palestinian slogans while holding flares.

According to the NYPD, at 2:15 p.m., police were called to a scheduled protest on Wall Street. A organization called Within Our Lifetime had organized it. Marchers, though, quickly started making their way over to the bridge. At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, a lane that serves arrivals and departures was even stopped by some protesters. Additionally, up to four cars were observed obstructing the route. In order to make it to their flights, a few of the passengers exited their vehicles and strolled past the demonstration while carrying their bags.
