Neha Hiremath murder case: Karnataka BJP calls for state-wide protests on Monday

Following the Hubballi murder of college student Neha Hiremath, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka announced countrywide rallies against the Congress government on Monday. The accused has already been taken into custody. The BJP has been claiming that the murder incidence had a "Love Jihad" angle.

Karnataka's BJP president, BY Vijayendra, claimed that the Congress is holding blood on its hands and likened the state of law and order in the state to the situation in Pakistan. "The state's appalling management of law and order is glaringly evident, reminding one of the sorry state of affairs in Pakistan and Afghanistan," the writer said. Buck completely stops at CM @siddaramaiah & @DKShivakumar for the chaos and anarchy in people's lives! As part of its "Congress having blood on its hand" campaign, @BJP4Karnataka is organizing massive demonstrations around the state on Monday to denounce the severe minority appeasement policies and the government's inaction in responding to crimes. Vijayendra also urged everyone to participate in the protests taking place throughout the state.

What is the Neha Hiremath murder case?

In Hubballi, a first-year MCA student at BVB College, was fatally stabbed on campus by suspect Fayaz Khondunaik. The suspect, who was later taken into custody, reportedly admitted to the police that he had repeatedly stabbed Neha since the two were in a relationship and she had been ignoring him lately. But according to the victim's family, he killed her because she turned down his proposal of marriage.

The victim's father, Niranjan Hiremath, told reporters, "My daughter was stabbed seven times to death on the spot by an unknown individual after she returned from college." The defendant is already in custody. The victim's rejection of the accused's declaration of love served as the catalyst for the murder. Before the occurrence, we spoke with the accused and told him that since you are Muslim and we are Hindu, we are unable to approve of your marriage.

After the Congress referred to the case as a personal matter between the accused and victim and the BJP called it a "Love Jihad" case, the case took a political turn. The chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, emphasized that the state's law and order situation was excellent and that the murder was committed for private reasons.
