Nand Nagri cop murder was premeditated, finds probe

The acquaintance of the policeman who shot and killed him on a flyover near Nand Nagri on Tuesday morning was planning the murder, according to police. He had bought an illegal gun, loaded it with ten bullets, and tricked the officer into giving him ₹25,000 a month in installments against a ₹5 lakh loan he had taken out. According to a police detective looking into the incident, 44-year-old Mukesh had been preparing to kill the cop for a few days and had made the decision to buy weapons with the remaining cash.

If the individual, going by his first name Mukesh, had truly intended to make the installment payment, he ought to have had ₹25,000 with him. He would have had the money recovered from his person or a bag he was carrying if he had given it to assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Dinesh Sharma. According to the mentioned officer, Mukesh met Sharma at the Ashok Nagar-Meet Nagar flyover near Nand Nagri on Tuesday at around 11.30 am. Mukesh's only possession was the illegal rifle he was carrying.

Joy Tikrey, the deputy commissioner of police for the northeast, stated that investigators were looking into the incident to find out what caused Mukesh to go on a shooting rampage, murder a police officer, and ultimately commit himself. Our investigation has revealed the financial conflict, but we are also investigating the real reason behind Mukesh's decision to organize the shooting and murder. Additionally, we are attempting to identify the source from which Mukesh obtained the illicit gun and ammo. Tikrey stated that his cellphone's call logs are being looked upon.

Nearly twenty minutes before Mukesh and Sharma met, at 11:17 a.m., according to a second police officer, Sharma made contact with Mukesh's live-in partner. Since Mukesh was not answering his telephone and could not be reached, the ASI asked the woman where he was. According to the officer, she informed him that Mukesh had left his house with the promise to see him and give him ₹25,000.

Mukesh did not take the money with him; it was kept at the house. It seems that Sharma made touch with Mukesh in some way, since the latter scheduled a meeting spot close to the flyover but showed up there with a loaded rifle. The second officer stated that this implies that his goal was to murder Sharma and withhold the money from him.

After an autopsy on Wednesday, the families of the shooter and the police officer received their remains. Mukesh had entry and exit wounds on his head, according to the police, and the officer was shot four times in the chest, three of which were found inside the corpse and one of which had an exit wound. Ballistic specialists stated that Mukesh's gun's magazine was empty, indicating that he may have shot himself with the last bullet.

At Mukesh's Nand Nagri residence, there was a fight between his spouse and live-in partner about who would claim the body. According to the police, locals stepped in and gave it to the wife. When Mukesh and Sharma first met on Tuesday at 11.30 a.m., they rode together for around 200 metres on Sharma's bike before Mukesh stepped down on the flyover and started shooting randomly, according to the police. At least four bullets struck Sharma, and a stray bullet injured 30-year-old Amit Kumar, a commuter, in the waist. Before falling, Kumar was able to ride to the opposite end of the flyover.

After firing shots at Sharma, Mukesh sat on the flyover in an autorickshaw and aimed the gun at the driver. However, as the car decelerated and Kumar fell, the driver was able to escape by using the vehicle's slowing down. According to authorities, after Mukesh missed his shot at him, he shot himself in the head from the back seat of the car.
